A few things about affirmations
“An affirmation is a declaration that something is true” source
But before we go to the list of affirmations for productivity, there’s a few things I want to touch on first.
When it comes to affirmations, some people may be sceptical about it because to a certain extent affirmations sound a bit woo-woo.
And maybe, you’re wondering too. Do affirmations work? How does affirmation work?
I will let you decide by the end of this post. Because my answer to this is “it depends” (sorry not really a useful answer if you stop reading here). But keep reading and decide later if positive affirmations will work for you too.
For me, it worked on so many occasions. I shared a little bit about our affirmation success in the post 77 Financial Affirmations to practise Positive Money Mindset and also in the March 2022 Monthly Review.
As for the woo-woo part, I’m not really sure what to tell you about this. I consider myself a semi-woo-woo person (big grin) but I lean towards the “sciency” part of it.
What convinced me to believe and try affirmations are articles like the Reticular Activating System and this article: What is Neuroplasticity. These articles helped me understand the “sciency’ part of the topic.
My understanding about this concept is this.
Reticular activating systems help us filter the thoughts coming in so we can only keep what matters, while Neuroplasticity helps us rewire our brains. It’s where reframing thoughts come in. We can flip negative thoughts into positive thoughts.
Does Positive Affirmation work?
Ok, so now that we have those ‘sciency” stuff out of the way. The next question is: does positive affirmation work?
I will be honest, I believe and I use affirmations but I don’t have an elaborate way of using them. I don’t even get out of my way too much to do this thing. It still works for me.
My approach is more about “being conscious about my thinking every day”.
So if a negative thought comes up, I just pause a bit and think of those affirmations. I think of them or whisper them if I need more force to quickly flip a negative thought. Same approach that I do when it comes to money using the 77 Financial Affirmations to practise Positive Money Mindset
I can’t tell if it will work for you or not so it’s up to you to discover it. Just know that it takes practice to get its full benefit if you choose to use positive daily affirmations.
A touch on Productivity

There are different kinds of affirmations. Since we’re talking about Affirmations on Productivity, it’s helpful to understand what productivity means. How it looks to different people.
Productivity is often used in a work environment as well as in the personal development space.
To me, productivity means I’m getting all my important things done with intentionality. It means I make time for my priorities and let the less important things slide.
Productivity can also mean that a person gets something done with effectiveness and efficiency. Sometimes, productivity gets associated with “being busy” too but that’s a whole topic that we can talk about later on.
Productivity can either help you achieve your goals or keep you away from achieving what you want in life.
And I think being productive is relative. It’s different from one person to another.
Maybe for one person, being productive means constantly doing something. However, for another person, it can look like doing just a few things.
Resting is also a form of Productivity. (oh I love this and I want to be good at it). Just need to watch out for the difference between ‘resting’ and “doing nothing” for a long period of time.

Benefits of using Productivity Affirmations

Every goal we set starts with an idea.
Then, we believe that idea is possible.
Now, from idea to possibility, something needs to happen. In order for an idea to become a reality, we need to do something.
Think of the idea and possibility as point A and B. Point A is the idea and B is the possibility (or the reality).
So, between point A and point B, there’s something there that determines how slow or fast we can get to point B. Sometimes it can even stop us from getting to point B altogether.
That “something” can be our mindset, attitude, habits, and productivity, which we can control. But of course, there might be something else that we can’t control. That’s just how life is. We cannot control everything.
So what do we do? We FOCUS on what we can control and WE LET GO OF what we cannot control.
This is where Productive Affirmations come in. You can use it to focus on what you can control. You have control with your thoughts.
Productivity Affirmations can help you beat procrastination and get things done with intention.
Intentional Productivity will give you confidence that everything you need to get done will be done.
In the grand scheme of things, being intentional with your productivity will help you live your life on your terms. It will enable you to pay attention on people, things and activities that matter to you.
What’s in it for you when you use Productivity Affirmations?
- Encourages you to have a positive attitude and a positive mindset toward productivity
- You’ll get more (important things) done
- They will make you feel more confident with your work
- Productivity affirmations will help your mindset shift from unhelpful to helpful thoughts
- You’ll become intentionally productive which is the ultimate goal and the intention of the whole Intentional Productivity topic
Let’s expand these benefits a little more.
Productivity Affirmations encourage you to have a positive attitude toward productivity

Using Productivity Affirmations encourages you to have a better view of productivity.
Affirmations are positive words, uplifting, encouraging and motivational. So the more you use these productivity affirmations, the higher your chance in becoming intentionally productive.
Example. If you think productivity is just working… work… work… then using the affirmations in this blog post will help you realise that productivity is more than just work. And certainly more than just being busy. It goes beyond ticking items on your to-do list.
Promotes a mindset shift from unhelpful to helpful thoughts
As I’ve mentioned above, we all have different views on productivity. So naturally, we’ll have a different views about getting things done.
The human mind is powerful. The quality of our results is often influenced by our mindset. And of course, our habits, routines, systems and actions are the big players in our outcomes but the mindset is where it all starts.
If your mindset is like: “There’s so much to do and I don’t have time” then you’ll find yourself always bombarded with stuff to do. You’ll feel that you don’t always have enough time.
“ I have so many things to do ” used to be my words every day two years ago. Guess what? I found myself doing so many things but at the end of the day, I was exhausted and miserable. All-day, almost every day.
So ironic because I was working for 3 days only at that time. You would think I would have all the time in the world to do things.
Since becoming intentional, I have worked on my mindset and it has made so much difference in how I think, how I do things and how I execute.
It started with creating new beliefs. And affirmations played a big role in making that happen.
Gives you more confidence in your work and how you do your ‘thing’
Productivity Affirmations helped me shift my mindset into a positive mindset. Shifting my mindset helped me form a new belief. And the new beliefs helped me do things differently in a way that’s effective and meaningful.
As a result, I’m more confident now with my work and I get more (important) things done.
I’m no longer a headless chicken running around not knowing what to do. You can read From Organised Chaos to Intentional to get to know how I started.
That post was published in September 2020 and I can say with pride that I’m in a better place now. I am better now with productivity. Still getting those “O-M-G moments”, but they are always temporary.
And getting better in Productivity rippled. Aside from completing my tasks and projects, it also improved my wellbeing. Now I’m less stressed no matter how many tasks are on my to-do list.
My family (and myself) achieved a lot of goals big and small.
Now, I have a sense of purpose and I’m satisfied and content with my life. I’m more intentionally productive. More about this in the next blog posts. Quarter 2 of 2022 is all about intentional productivity so keep coming back to this Blog if you would also like to focus on Productivity.
In summary, the benefit of using daily productivity affirmations is getting more (important) things done by being intentionally productive.
How to make Productivity Affirmations work for you
“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity… Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.” Source
This message emphasises the idea of how important it is for us to be deliberate and purposeful of the thoughts that we let into our minds.
When it comes to goals, one thing I always think about is how powerful our minds are. But we can control what goes in there. So it’s it’s up to us who we want it to serve us.
We can choose our thoughts. We can even be selective of the beliefs we want to keep. This is the reason why R (my husband) and I are very mindful and conscious of the words we use when we talk to our kids.
To help you make the most of this Affirmations on Productivity, I have few tips for you. They will help affirmations work for you.
If you fancy using Printable Card decks, you can grab them in the ieSHOP.
Tip #1: Align your affirmation with your belief
The main reason why we use affirmations is so we can keep a positive mindset that will help us achieve our goals. So, alignment is so important.
If you decide to use affirmations to help you achieve your goals, remember that affirmation needs to be aligned with what you want to believe or what you already believe in.
The reasoning is, that if you use an affirmation that contradicts your beliefs then you’ll just resist every time you say that affirmation.
So when you hear an affirmation, you have to believe in your core that it’s true.
It’s always helpful to start with your core values. Get clear with what’s important to you. Then you can mindfully align that core value with your beliefs. Once that’s aligned, you can align your actions and your feelings. This will then determine your outcome.
Tip #2: Set a clear goal
You can set many goals but I strongly suggest to focus on setting just one goal for now. You can always add more later.
Once you have your goal, take time to reflect on your thoughts about that goal. What made you choose that goal? What’s your inspiration and motivation to want that goal? Reflect on your intentions behind that goal. You do that and you’ll have a meaningful goal.
A goal that will encourage you to be intentional with your productivity.
Tip #3: Use the affirmation the way you want it.
This is the part where you do you, Beautiful.
The most common way of using affirmation is saying the affirmation/s aloud and in front of the mirror.
To be honest, I’ve never done that.
But I do keep a list of affirmations. I use affirmations by thinking of them frequently throughout the day. Depending on what goal I’m working on. I either whisper them if I’m on my own or just say them in my head. I close my eyes when I do and it doesn’t take a long time to do.
Sometimes, I write the affirmation over and over on a piece of paper. I love writing. (as in using pen and paper not digital)
So for me, there’s no one way of using affirmations to create your reality. Experiment with the different ways of doing it and you’ll find what works for you.
Most importantly. Put them in your own words. I mean, you can use the affirmation as it is if it truly resonates, but you can always change the wording.
You can even use it as the base of an idea. And then create your own. That way it’s more authentic and more effective.
