Weekly Review #8: Go big, start small

Go Big Start small

Hey beautiful you,

I hope you are well. Welcome to Weekly Review #8. The end of February 2021 marks the 6th month of the Intentional E blog. Where did the time go?

Having this blog is like a Big Dream for me and I didn’t know that I can maintain one. I love sharing tips with my friends and I thought of blogging about it in the past but I didn’t dare to do it then.

I am really glad I decided to finally go for it even if it was scary at the beginning. Now, as I learn the technical part of blogging I appreciate blogging more and more. There’s still so much to learn but I know I can find a way to figure it out. I just need to keep learning.

Most importantly, this blog is making a positive change in my personal life so I think I am on the right track. I just hope that while I am getting small progress someone out there is also learning with me.

If that is you, go ahead and leave a comment at the end of this post. I would love to get to know you. We can help each other out.

Weekly TIP #10: Go big, start small, and keep the momentum

In case you are new to this space, I am creating an intentional lifestyle. My purpose in creating this blog is to share my journey as I figure out how to live an intentional life.

At the same time, I want to share with you what I learn as I go. My purpose is also to share knowledge through “Tips” and “How To” articles about being intentional with time, energy, relationship and money. (though, at the moment I haven’t covered anything yet about financial topics.). We’ll get to this topic real soon I just need to start with the foundation first.

The desire of knowing how far I could go and how many goals I can achieve is one of the reasons why I recently decided to publish my Weekly Reviews.

By doing this, I am hoping tracking the progress publicly will also help me keep the momentum. Therefore, I can share more tips and knowledge with you.

So, let me go ahead and expand this Tip a little more. I hope you will find it helpful no matter what goals you trying to achieve.

Go Big

I am referring to our Dreams and our Goals. We have to focus on what we want, even though it may seem impossible.

Marie Forleo has an article about Dreaming Big. And I love this article so much. She said that if we want to achieve big things, we need to start with Big Dreams.

I couldn’t agree more with her. There are so many famous and successful people who started dreaming big.

We will never know what is truly possible unless we give it a try”.

Weekly Review #8 Quote from Walt Disney

Start Small

Alight, now that we have the Big Dream (or Dreams), what’s next?

Lately, I had a realisation.

For the longest time, I have always been a goal setter, I love setting goals. I am grateful that I have achieved a lot like the ones I mentioned in Monthly Reflection for Dec 2021. I feel that there are more that I could have achieved if I have been more systematic.

So, that is what I am going to try from here on. To be intentional on how I do things. I pretty much know the basics of what I need to do, but I need to find a more clever way of implementing these ideas.

I figured, the best way to do this is start small. It means I have quick wins and we all know that quick wins are awesome motivators.

How do we start small?

Really simple question isn’t it? But you know what I had to spell this out for myself.

To start small is to break things up. This is the number one thing I have learned since starting this blog. However, it is only lately that I actually fully understand how I could do it. I am a naturally a multitasker, old habit, but I am slowly learning to single task.

It took a lot of adjustments but I think I am slowly getting better at it.

If we are to take Goals for example: it would look like, big goals, broken down into projects and projects broken down into actions steps and action steps broken down into single task. You get the idea.

Stay Consistent

Consistency is what will move us forward. This is what will help us move closer to our goals. The things, it becomes really difficult to stay consistent.

A lot of people, including myself, start with so much high energy when starting a project. That energy stays for a little while but then sometimes when life happens, we get distracted, then we stop. Then, hello unfinished projects and hello abandoned goals.

Do Less but Better

When I started this blog I didn’t realise that it would be a massive job. I didn’t know that it would take so much time and brain power.

Having this blog is now teaching me the value of LESS BUT BETTER. I learned this from the book Essentialism by Greg Mckeown.

These three words are so powerful and there so much potential in making this work in almost all of the areas of our lives. To be doing less but better means I am doing what’s more important and leaving the rest. Not totally abandoning them but more like setting them aside to be reassessed later on if it is still important.

I would love to talk about this book and I want to share what I have learned, but that would be for another post.

You can also grab yourself a copy now instead of waiting for my post. You will get so much value from this book. I promise.

I can’t be minimalist, I can’t be too organised but I think I can be an essentialist.

It is the biggest realisation I had as a result of reading this book. And that is also the road I am taking to create an intentional lifestyle.

Weekly Review #8: Check-in

Following my Week 6 Review, which was a big blank, I am glad to tell you that Week 7 (#289weeksofgratitude), was a little better.

Moving to Week#8, was good but not great yet.

I have been slowly climbing off the pit but I wouldn’t say I am back 100 percent. Believe it or not, there were two days where I only managed to write my gratitude list. That was it. No other entries. So, I have no idea what happened on Thursday and Friday of Week #8.

But you know what? I didn’t stressed myself trying to remember what happened and what I did those days. It surprised me actually because I don’t like it when I break a chain. But then I thought, maybe this blog is really changing me. I am not “Miss Trying to do everything perfectly” anymore. That woman is gone.

I don’t remember reflecting on my days properly for Week 7. I think I have been focused more with learning about how to optimise this blog and to learn how to grow traffic.

This taught me that no matter how well planned the day or the week is, things will not always go according to plan. And I am ok with it. Finally.

So, now I am happily moving on and not fussed about Blank Week 6.

Then at Week 8 (#290weeksofgratitude), I found myself slowly getting back into my usual routine.

As this blog grows little by little, I am going with it.

Next Action

Thank you for coming by today. I have a small challenge for you this week.

I am sure you have many goals. My challenge for you is to pick just one goal and then write down the smallest step you can do today. It could be, writing a plan or brainstorming.

Then, try to apply the Tip of the week. Go big, start small, and stay consistent.

I am going to see you next weeks with more tips.

Much Love,

E
