Hey Gorgeous.
Thank you for coming back to this space.
It’s Grateful Heart’s Week.
Oh yeah, I totally made it up and I might keep it for good.
If you personally know me, then you know that I am a grateful person. I like being grateful. Having an attitude of gratitude is a wonderful thing, sometimes it is all you need to make a gloomy day better.
It certainly does wonder with one’s perspective and general well being. I for one find a huge benefit in practicing this attitude. So if you haven’t tried it, I really encourage you to give it a go. You can start slow and small until you build the habit.
The Beautiful No. 8
I can’t believe this is my 8th post already. Thank you for dropping by every week. I appreciate it so much and I hope you like it here.
I am not sure if you noticed but the previous posts I have written so far are all dedicated to you. Each post was written with you in mind. Every time I write these two questions are my guide. What could I share with you? What knowledge I learned that you might find helpful too?
I also realised in my last 7 posts I have been talking about organisation, productivity, goals, and everything bullet journal and getting things done. So this week, I thought I would change things a little bit.
So for this post, I would like to pause for a bit and just be Grateful.
I am thinking I would like to do this every 8th week just to break things up. It won’t always be about gratitude alone but it can be something a little bit personal. Just hoping my beloved family members will give me an “ok” to do it. We’ll see in the next 8th week.
In my post Quarterly Goal Setting, I shared one of my goals as an example for creating a quarterly goal. One of my big goals is to become a successful blogger in 5 years. An essential part of my action plan to get close to achieving this until I finally get there (hopefully) is being consistent in publishing a post every single week. So, I think this week is a good time to do this.
Blogging is something I have never done before and I am a total newbie in this area. To be able to publish posts consistently for 8 weeks is something that calls for a mini celebration. Would you agree?
Gratitude in practice
Having this attitude of gratitude has been a great help in my well being in general. R and I are very proud because we can say that we were able to share this attitude with our kids. M is 5 and at her age, it seems that she already embraced the habit of being grateful.
The other night during our nightly chat time, M was really concerned about the scar on my belly. I explained to her that, the scar is fine and it reminds me of her and Kuya every time I see it.
Being a curious George herself, M just kept asking questions. So the curiosity led to Kuya and I remembering those chat nights when he was the only child. Kuya and I really enjoyed reminiscing those nights when M was moving a lot inside the belly while I was putting him to sleep.
Not sure how M interpreted the conversation but she just suddenly said:
“Mummy thank you for not dying me in your belly.”
The use of “dying” was hilarious I didn’t correct her because it was so cute when she said it.
Kuya found it so funny too.
In all seriousness though, I am actually grateful for having grateful kids. They are good at timing too. I am not sure what the trigger is but Moon has this habit of saying thank you randomly and it warms my heart every time. Sometimes in the middle of feeling really tired and feeling behind, a simple thank you does the trick.
Kuya has a slightly different style. I could almost predict that he would say thank you after a certain moment.
When he is having a good experience for example enjoying his meal, or when I stay with him at bedtime waiting for him to fall asleep, he says “thank you” a lot.
Most nights, he says thank you for something specific that I did on that day and it could be as simple as making him food or letting him play in Nintendo Switch a little longer. Speaking of screen time, I am really grateful that he is now fully capable of self-regulation when it comes to screen time Except for those random times when we forget to check the time. He is probably better than I am in this department.
Gratitude Week
As I have mentioned above, I decided every 8th week I am going to post something a little different. So today is going to be dedicated just for Gratitude.
Why? Because there are heaps of people (and places and things) I am grateful for and one post is not going to be enough to express how thankful I am.
My heart is full and the people I am grateful for the need to know they are part of it. So if you are one of those people and you are not mentioned in this post, please be patient with me. It doesn’t mean I have forgotten about you. I will definitely post something about you in the future Gratitude Posts.
I am not going to be who I am now if not because of the people who have been part and who are still part of my life. It is amazing how one cannot realise how they made a big impact on one’s life.
So if you are one of the people below, hopefully, this will remind you that I appreciate you more than I can tell you.
Thank you from the core of my heart
I am thankful for the following people and they are listed in random orders and by no means ranked in any way. I love each of them and I cannot rank them (not that I need to) because each of them is so unique and they complement each other.
I am so lucky to have met these people. Believe it or not, they came into my life in packages. Meaning their own families have become my family too so I am indeed a lucky duck.
Here it goes.
Sakura M.K.
Sakura M.K. (JAPAN) (my Japanese Bestie)
-
She is my Japanese Bestie who moved back to Japan recently and she is the biggest inspiration of my every post.
-
I have known her since Kuya was 5 years old and she is like a little sister to me.
-
It’s funny because most of the time I feel like I write my blog just for her. What I have posted so far is something that we used to talk about when she was living in Australia. I am glad I am now able to share with her everything through this blog.
-
I appreciate every private message that she sends me after reading my every post.
Honestly, that right there makes everything so worth it.
-
She is one of those people who appreciates every little thing I do. This helps me feel inspired to do more and be better at what I do.
-
I admire her loving and thoughtful personality and I am always grateful to have met her. I can see ourselves being friends even when we are grey and old. Even distance will never stop us from being connected.
-
I just wish I could have even just a little bit of her discipline when it comes to self-care. I really admire that about her.
Joni A.C
- Joni (AUSTRALIA)( Miss Businesswoman of my circle of friends)
- This blog is not going to happen if not because of her. She is my Bestie in Australia and she has been the source of inspiration and support since meeting her a long time ago. Gosh, I cannot even remember.
- She is the one who inspired me to finally take that big step and make this passion project a reality. In fact, she is now my accountability partner just to make sure I am going to continue writing for as long as I can. She has her own blog and I will definitely link it here when she is ready.
- Her contagious positive attitude and endless patience (when things are not right) is just a couple of her traits that I admire a lot about her.
- Being a business-minded chick, she has all these wonderful ideas about entrepreneurship. Very inspiring.
- She is the type of person you would want to be around if you would like to talk about goals, vision, and mission, and all those really nice stuff. Bonus: it is always a guaranteed positive and fun conversation.
Jo R-D
- Jo (UNITED ARAB EMIRATES) (my sister from another Mother)
- This wonderful woman and Mother lives in Dubai and we have been best friend since high school
- I owe her my high school life and she (and her family) is the reason why I was able to graduate from College. I would have not made it if it was not because of her.
- We only see each other every 10 years or so and I hope she knows how much I appreciate our friendship.
- We may not be in touch as often as we want but every time we catch up it is always as if we are not far away and it hasn’t been long since we saw each other.
- I appreciate her amazing personality, her kindness, her generosity, her fun, and serious sides. I just appreciate her wonderful being.
- She is very intelligent, highly creative and a talented writer and I wish she will find time to get back to writing someday soon. Please go back to blogging Tol. The Blogging world needs you.
Pops H.
- Pops (PHILIPPINES) (my Fashionista Bestie and Protector)
- I have known her since 2005 from work and without going into too many details let’s just say she transformed me for the better and she helped me so much in many ways.
- She used to protect me when other people would belittle me because they felt they are better than anyone.
- I used to be this person with the lowest confidence level and I used to be so hard on myself when I am unable to help others. She used to tell me that I cannot save the world, and she is right, I need to let go of wanting to do more for other people. For this, I am really glad she is my friend.
- I appreciate her a lot because she is always there every time I need gentle reminders that I am enough, that I need to be kind to myself.
- It is funny because she is not a parent (yet) but every time I ran out of options when making parenting decisions I ask her. I think she would be a cool mum.
- What I appreciate most about her is her love for our children. M thinks Pops is her second Mumma and I am ok with it. Kuya has also this special bond with her which I am really happy about.
That is it for now my lovelies.
Do you also practice gratitude? If so how do you do it? I would be grateful if you could please post a comment about this topic.
Next week.
Much Love,
E
